A layer of smog settling over the financial district at Canary Wharf, London. A heat wave coupled with still air, industrial pollution, vehicle emissions and dust from the Sahara desert produced high pollution levels. Levels around Tower Hamlets and remained at 7 to 8 Moderate on Tuesday. The main protest was in New York where the international Climate summit is due to open at the United Nations building on 23 September.
